Flash Games
Context
Originally, I had a site on Google Sites where I had embedded some Flash games for my friends and I to kill some time at school, as most working sites with any Flash games on them were blocked on our school network. And then a year or two later, Flash got shut down, so I got my friends to run the games locally on their computers instead. And then in September of 2021, the classic Google Sites got shut down and all classic sites were converted to the new version of Google Sites. As you can probably imagine, the new Google Sites sucks. Because why wouldn't it? A billion dollar corporation ends support for an old product that is somewhat still in use, but isn't earning them enough money to warrant the continuation of said product in coming years. This is the point at which the product is either shut down completely (coughcoughadobeflash), or replaced by a newer, shittier version with a corporate-feeling minimalistic design that has less than half the features and functionalities of the old version. Sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it?
Yeah anyways, they're here now, and there are two downloads. First is the Adobe Flash debugging tool, which essentially works as a local .exe Flash player. Second is the .zip file with the games in it.
Downloads
flashplayer_32_sa_debug.exe
flash-games.zip
How to use
- Method 1:
- Open the flashplayer_32_sa_debug.exe, go to File on the menu bar, choose Open, and then select the Flash game that you want to play from the directory where you saved it.
- Method 2:
- Select the game you want to play in file explorer, and when the "Open with..." prompt appears, click "More apps ↓" and scroll down until you see "Look for another app on this PC". Select, this, then choose the flashplayer_32_sa_debug.exe from the directory you saved it in.
Note: For some reason,
some of the games don't work with the offline Flash player. I don't know why, and I don't know how to fix it. Most of the games do work though, IIRC it's just some of the Henry Stickmin games that are broken, maybe some others too. I'm including them anyway, because maybe the reason they don't work is something to do with my PC, and they work perfectly fine on other people's PCs (not entirely sure though, haven't tested it).
